Research Ethics

The University of the Witwatersrand, Human Research Ethics Committee: (Medical) is an independent committee which provides ethics approval and oversight for all research at the University of a medical nature, involving human participants, conducted under its responsibility in accordance with the South African Ethics in Health Research Guidelines: Principles, Processes and Structures, 2024, 3rd Edition (NDoH 2024), the South African Good Clinical Practice: Clinical Trial Guidelines. Third Edition (SA GCP 2020), ICH GCP E6(R3) 06 January 2025, World Medical Association, Declaration of Helsinki 2024, and Association of British Pharmaceutical Industries (ABPI 2014).
